      Two days ahead of Leopard's release, Apple will drop the final update to Tiger on Mac OS X 10.4 users Wednesday evening, sources report.

    +Apple posts $904M profit as Mac sales top 2 million
      Apple earned a profit of $904 million on revenue of $6.22 billion for its fiscal fourth-quarter ending September 29, the company announced Monday. Apple sold 2.164 million Macs, 10.2 million iPods, and 1.119 million iPhones during the quarter.

    +Briefly: iPhone, others take the wind out of FileMaker Mobile
      FileMaker will announce next week the demise of its FileMaker Mobile product and will cease both development and sales of the software later this year, sources say.

    +Secret Notes: iPhone SDK a reality, in February '08
      Apple will deliver a proper iPhone SDK that will allow third-party developers to write native applications for the iPhone, the company said Wednesday. The move reverses Apple's original position on third-party development, which was strictly limited to applications that could run in a Web browser.

    +Briefly: Apple and Orange in iPhone France deal
      Mobile carrier Orange will be the exclusive provider of the iPhone in France, the two companies announced Tuesday. The iPhone will be available to customers in France on November 29, confirming a date previously disclosed by Think Secret in September.

      Multiple sources have confirmed that Apple will set Leopard loose on the 26th.

      Work has already begun on Apple's first retail store in Australia, which is planned to open in Sydney in mid-2008.

      Apple is set to introduce updated MacBook laptops following the release of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard later this month, sources report. With Leopard on track to hit stores October 26, the updated MacBooks could be consumer hands by the first half of November, if not sooner.

      Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard remains on track for an October release on or around October 26, sources report. That date, the last Friday of the month, is similar to the release date of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
