By sending word in the middle of the final World Series game that Alex Rodriguez was opting out of his Yankees contract, Boras shattered the mark for the worst false start in history. The other record, he took by only a sliver. He moved into first place on the all-time tackiness list, nudging aside a team owner who had held the position for 23 years.
